Larry Elder, California Recall Frontrunner, on Big Tech

Journalist and civil rights lawyer Geraldo Rivera catches up with his old friend Tavis about his registered party , their sworn enemies , and why he chose one over the other. Following his announcement, Elder joined Elex Michaelson on The Issue Is to discuss lesson’s from last year’s campaign, his new political venture, ongoing debates over COVID policy, a potential future White House run, and much more. Eight weeks later, although the recall effort would ultimately fail, Elder would raise more than $22 million, and receive some 3.5 million votes, more than all of his political rivals combined. During that run for Governor, Salem utilized Carl Jackson, a rising star from Orlando, to sub for Larry and never missed a beat. Carl has agreed to resume the host duties for the foreseeable future, until Salem is ready to announce a permanent replacement.

Elder had entered the recall campaign just days before the filing deadline but zoomed to the top of a long list of candidates running against Newsom. Governor Gavin Newsom handily defeated a historic recall effort, with results on Tuesday night showing residents of the Golden state opposing the effort to remove him from office in greater numbers than some experts initially expected.

DEEP DIVE When the stock market has jumped two days in a row, as it has now, it is easy to become complacent. But the Federal Reserve isn’t finished raising interest rates, and recession talk abounds.

I just checked with Zillow, and the home my dad bought in south-central—which is still in the family—is now worth $600,000. Good news for my family, but an absolute disaster for anybody trying to follow the same path that led my dropout dad into the middle class. I will never sacrifice public safety just to appease a corrupt minority that chants “defund the police” and that falsely accuses police officers of “systemic racism.” But Newsom and his cohorts will. And the radicals’ assault on public safety demonizes police officers trying to do their job. Firefighters risk their lives fighting infernos made more frequent and deadly because of poor state land management.

“We implore you… to join us in this fight as you are able, primarily by signing our petition demanding a special session of the California legislature to investigate and ameliorate the twisted results of this 2021 Recall Election of Governor Gavin Newsom,” the site says. Eder’s most extreme views are not only out of line with those of the majority of state voters – but also with the views of many of the state’s Republicans. Elder emerged as the unlikely frontrunner in the Republican race to unseat Newsom and could have become the state’s first Black governor.
